About Me

My name is Tony Hansen and I am a Scion owner and enthusiast. I enjoy all aspects of the Scion culture including going to shows, racing my car, running a Scion club, and just chatting with random people about all of the great things associated with the Scion brand. It may sound over the top, but because of the car I own, my life has been changed forever. My closest friends are Scion owners and these friends are spread across the United States. I travel tens of thousands of miles each year going to car shows and events put on by friends in other Scion clubs.

I bought my 2005 Scion tC Release Series 1.0 in mid-July of 2005. From the first moment I saw the brilliant red color of the Release Series tC, I knew I had to have it. The car stayed largely stock for the remainder of the summer. That fall, while parked along the street, my car was tagged by a member of ScinergyIA, a Scion club in Iowa. I went to a meet and was exposed to the Scion culture for the first time. I was hooked and became a member. I went to many shows flying the ScinergyIA banner and enjoyed the company of most of the members.

In the summer of 2006, I rode with a fellow ScinergyIA member down to a Scion show called "Asylum" in Tulsa, OK. I was blown away by the Scikotics car club that put on the event. The members were extremely friendly and knew how to have fun. Despite being a member of a different club, I was treated like family and had a blast. When I got back to Iowa, I quickly joined the newly formed Cedar Rapids Scikotics chapter.

After several months of making the 4 hour round trip drive twice a month to attend meets in Cedar Rapids, I was asked to start a club in Des Moines. I approached the dealership I bought my car from and they agreed to sponsor the club. We quickly grew as a chapter and even threw a couple of shows and very successful events in our first year as a chapter. I was able to get many of the members to local and regional car shows to meet other Scion enthusiasts. Even though when you go to shows, winning a trophy is nice, the main reason I go to shows is to chat with other owners and make new friends.

Because I have been a member of a couple different Scion clubs and chapters as well as spending a lot of time on various online Scion message boards, I became one of 5 regional administrators/moderators for the Scikotics Scion club. In doing so, I am tasked with helping the various chapters in the northern part of the United States. I aid new chapters in getting started, discuss and vote on decisions that affect the club as a whole, keep the chapters running as smooth as possible, and many other duties that require attention. It is a lot of work and is a thankless job, but I enjoy doing it. It is my way of giving back to the club that has provided so much for me.
